Vice President of Project Execution – Biogas | Milan, Italy
About the Role
We’re representing a global biogas development and technology provider headquartered in Milan, Italy, in their search for a proven engineering and project execution leader to oversee large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects across Europe.
Reporting directly to the Regional Managing Director, this is a strategic and hands-on leadership position responsible for managing the full lifecycle of $100M+ biogas and RNG projects — from design and development through construction, commissioning, and operations.
You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and site execution professionals to deliver world-class biogas assets safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for all Projects & Engineering activities across multiple European sites.
- Define and execute project delivery strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Oversee EPC and technology integration for anaerobic digestion, gas upgrading, and related energy recovery systems.
- Manage a portfolio exceeding $100M in active projects, ensuring consistency in execution quality, safety, and performance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, discipline engineers, and field execution teams.
- Establish and maintain best practices in project controls, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
- Interface with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal leadership to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Support business growth through technical input during early-stage project development and investment evaluation.
- Drive innovation in design standardization, modular construction, and operational optimization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 15+ years’ experience delivering large-scale energy, industrial, or infrastructure projects — ideally within biogas, waste-to-energy, or oil & gas sectors.
- Proven track record in project execution leadership.
- Strong technical understanding of anaerobic digestion, gas upgrading, and renewable gas systems.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to balance cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across engineering, procurement, and construction disciplines.
- Fluent in English; Italian proficiency is highly desirable.
