One Mission Society has a vision of making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ and equipping them to be transformational in their spheres of influence. In order to accomplish this vision, the Bike Repair Technician, working within a Disciple-Making team, will model disciple-making practices with individuals and churches in their geographical area to foster a disciple-making movement.

The bicycle technician will also repair bicycles at the Agape Bici bicycle shop and teach others how to repair bikes.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience with disciple-making processes is a plus.

  • Understanding of spiritual disciplines and scriptural application.
  • Ability to network with partners effectively.
  • Ability to work constructively with team members in disciple-making, showing respect and valuing others.
  • Ability to learn the local language to an intermediate level.
  • Possess a coachable spirit.

  • Incorporate the compassion of Christ into all tasks.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hands.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair bicycles independently.
  • Ability to interact positively with customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, scripture reading, fasting, and other spiritual disciplines.
  • Participate in team spiritual practices such as prayer, fasting, worship, and accountability.
  • Engage with OMS-approved processes to evangelize non-believers and help others grow as reproducing disciples.
  • Work with the Disciple-Making team to plan and implement disciple-making initiatives in local churches and networks, including training leaders and establishing disciple-making groups.
  • Assist in developing new strategies and training opportunities, including planning conferences and training sessions.
  • Identify and recommend new resources and processes, and oversee their translation and implementation.
  • Collaborate with the Disciple-Making and Church Development teams to develop effective processes and relationships.
  • Support other OMS Country Team ministries as appropriate.
  • Perform bicycle repairs for clients and donate repaired bikes to the community.
  • Manage tools and parts inventory for bicycle repairs.
  • Be willing to learn the local language to an intermediate level.

This is a support-based position that involves raising financial support through ministry partners for salary and expenses.
