The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assigned mechanical engineering and design activities pertaining to the project, with defined responsibilities for specific equipment packages.

It is the intention that the position will continue through the EPCIC phase starting with focus on specification and procurement of equipment and vendor follow up, followed by a transition to onshore functional testing and offshore HUC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the oversight and verification of assigned mechanical engineering activities on the Topsides scopes.
  • Ensure a high attention to safety and health as an integrated part of the project EPCI phase.
  • Ensure that Contractors’ work is performed according to project objectives, selected standards, and contract requirements, with focus on functionality and SHE. Intervene as necessary to correct any issues.
  • Ensure all interfaces and cross discipline coordination are being dealt with and captured in the assigned mechanical engineering work.
  • Review the requisitions for equipment prepared by Contractors before they are issued to the market and ensure they are fit for purpose and incorporate project requirements. Perform the review of the bids for equipment and provide input to the technical recommendation for award.
  • Support and provide timely responses to Technical Queries originating from Contractor.
  • Support and provide timely responses to Concession & Deviation Permits originating from Contractor.
  • Proactively participate in design reviews and verification initiatives. Ensure relevant open actions are being dealt with and implemented followed by formal close out process.
  • Monitor the verification of the EXECUTE design by the IVB and ensure their comments are addressed, as appropriate, by the Contractor.
  • Provide input to progress reporting, project communication and presentations.
  • Provide support and assistance on ad hoc tasks.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Engineering education at B.Sc level.
  • 12+ years experience in Oil & Gas engineering activities, either with another production operator, or contractor/supplier to the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Experience as Mechanical Engineer or similar role with responsibility for executing or overseeing engineering activities.
  • Experience with EPCIC contracts.
  • Experience with engineering methodologies for offshore projects.
  • Experience with equipment specification, technical evaluations, review of vendor documentation, factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, equipment installation requirements, equipment preservation requirements and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with staged gate project execution model.
  • Experience with the following types of equipment, shell and tube heat exchangers, air cooled heat exchangers, cranes, chemical injection packages, pig traps, process pumps and HVAC (either generalist experience with a wide range of equipment or more specialized experience with particular equipment will be considered).
  • Proficient with MS office package.
