Umbilical Engineer

Main Responsibilities

• Review and approve technical documents, drawings, specifications, and procedures from contractors for umbilical systems and related equipment.
• Support project management during engineering, detailed design, manufacturing, and testing phases.
• Interface closely with subsea control system design teams.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to project objectives, industry standards, and safety best practices.
• Ensure the umbilical system design meets quality, cost, and technical requirements.
• Coordinate and manage interface information between all stakeholders.
• Select optimal technical and economical solutions ensuring system integrity.
• Provide offshore assistance during umbilical installation and pre-commissioning activities.
• Ensure system performance, installability, and operability.

Key Activities

• Follow up on detailed engineering activities performed by contractors.
• Review, comment, and approve contractor technical documentation for umbilicals and ancillary equipment.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, codes, standards, and project specifications.
• Perform systematic expediting at contractor sites.
• Assist in resolving technical interfaces across work packages.
• Troubleshoot ongoing technical issues and ensure timely resolutions.
• Monitor and report progress to project teams.
• Conduct daily site inspections during manufacturing and witness testing aligned with approved ITPs.
• Support offshore installation, commissioning, and production startup.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZID, and SIMOPS workshops.
• Provide offshore support during umbilical installation and pre‑commissioning.

Minimum & Mandatory Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree from an accredited university.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in umbilical engineering or related subsea disciplines after earning the degree.
• Excellent spoken and written English, with strong ability to write technical specifications and reports.
