Description
Project Engineer is the technical leader for the project, responsible for guaranteeing completion of activities through coordination of Work Package Leaders for subsystems.
Responsibilities
- Deliver design work packages on schedule and within the planned budget.
- Lead project monitoring and control activities, including maintaining schedule, MPR updates, meeting minutes, risk register, and change orders.
- Prioritize and monitor software problem reports and execute tasks within engineering and software development activities.
- Track performance and analyze progress toward key goals.
- Conduct regular meetings with clients to clarify requirements and meet them in a timely manner.
- Collect KPIs to monitor project status.
- Maintain and monitor the project budget.
- Manage TXCR for the project by ensuring proper creation by Work Package Leaders.
- Plan design reviews during the project lifecycle to define GO/NOGO steps.
- Facilitate scope/requirement discussions with technical teams and customers.
- Document and report project progress to stakeholders and clients.
- Contribute to an optimal overall project technical solution.
- Ensure project objectives are communicated to the project team and that all technical activities align with the schedule.
- Ensure proper Configuration Management, including document management and transmittal processes.
- Delegate tasks to team members according to their skills and experience to ensure efficient completion.
- Follow up on requirement specifications and integration compliance within the project and system disciplines.
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as project engineer or lead systems/software engineer for large software control system applications.
- Very good knowledge of German railway signaling and control systems.
- Prior experience with basic project management.
- Maintaining and controlling budget, schedule monitoring/development, risk management, resource and task management.
- Extensive understanding and/or experience with software development lifecycles, delivery, and hardware/software integration lifecycles.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera), requirements management systems, and software configuration tools.
- Experience managing small- to mid-sized projects and project teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, and manage cross-functional teams with varying skills/experience.
- Ability to multi-task across multiple projects and build strong relationships with effective communication and leadership.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Desired Skills/Knowledge
- Rail or rail transit domain experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience supporting Bids and Proposals for new work is preferred.
- Experience with overall systems architecture design.
- Experience with robust, mission-critical control systems.
- Experience providing leadership in functional or project management roles.
