Overview
Jensen Hughes, a leading consulting firm specialising in risk analysis and engineering solutions, is seeking a Lead Nuclear Consultant with a strong background in nuclear safety and probabilistic safety assessment (PSA). This role will primarily support PSA model development and safety studies for advanced reactors and SMRs in Europe. The core team is based in Milan, Italy, though remote work might be considered for strong candidates. You will collaborate with nuclear experts globally to deliver innovative solutions in safety, reliability, and risk management, while also contributing to the growth of our technical offering and client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Support and deliver probabilistic safety models and related nuclear safety studies.
- Participate in nuclear safety assessments, feasibility studies, and licensing/regulatory support.
- Provide technical input into safety case development and related justifications.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across Europe to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Contribute to proposal development, scoping, and technical input for bids.
- Assist in identifying follow-on work and nurturing existing client relationships.
- Participate in client meetings, reviews, and technical discussions when required.
- Support the visibility and growth of Jensen Hughes’ nuclear services in the region.
- Work alongside senior consultants to develop project approaches and methodologies.
- Share knowledge and provide informal guidance to more junior engineers.
- Engage with international stakeholders and offices as part of a global delivery model.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited university.
- At least 15 years of post-graduation experience in a nuclear safety expert role, particularly in developing probabilistic safety assessment models.
- Excellent English communication and writing skills to effectively convey technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a matrix global organization at all levels.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and navigating ambiguities and uncertainties.
- Commercial acumen, able to contribute to proposals, pricing, and strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in nuclear power plant engineering, systems, licensing, operations, advanced nuclear technologies, or similar technical areas is highly desirable.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently, would be advantageous.
- Strong business development skills, with a track record of winning and growing client accounts.
- Italian language proficiency is desirable.
