We are seeking a Junior Outdoor Data Technician on a 1-year contract basis in our Massarosa, Italy location. In this role, you will be completing well-defined tasks for the curation of outdoor trail data which will be used in the creation of navigational outdoor maps, consumed by our mobile applications and GPS-enabled devices.
What you’ll do:
- Work as a data processing operator, trained by and under supervision of a technical lead mentor
- Create, edit and/or maintain outdoor trail data using Garmin-proprietary and/or third-party software
- Complete well-defined processing tasks
- Identify data problems and process limitations, and seek resolution using the tools available and collaboration with peers and mentors
- Cultivate a strong customer-oriented service culture in your function
- Apply a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities
What you’ll need:
- Experience in using more advanced computer-based tools that involve working with graphical elements. This can be any software like CAD 3D, Image Editing, Web Design, etc.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with PC applications in a Windows environment
- Fluid speaker in Italian, with efficient communication skills in English
- Some experience with the use of maps, preferably for hiking or cycling activities
- Good interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, effective time management
- Enthusiastic attitude with a strong sense of commitment, accountability, and urgency
- Ability to maintain focus on assigned tasks, share ideas freely/positively, and demonstrate a growth mindset/eagerness to learn
Bonus points if you have:
- Passionate about hiking in hilly terrain with experience using GPS devices
- Experience in using GIS software
- Some amount of fluency with Spanish
