The CHC R&D Associate Product Development & Nutra Science will be part of the Consumer Healthcare R&D team, contributing to the development of new products and the optimization of existing formulations.

The role will focus on Nutra Science, particularly in the Vascular, Uro-Gynecological, and Gastrointestinal Health areas, and will support both global and local innovation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in R&D projects for new product development and formulation improvement.
  • Support the selection and evaluation of raw materials and production technologies.
  • Contribute to the definition and validation of technical specifications, process parameters, and analytical methods.
  • Support the preparation of technical documentation such as technical data sheets, analytical plans, and regulatory dossiers (Product Technical Documentation – PTD).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Production) to ensure project goals and execution alignment from a Product Development perspective.
  • Support the Head of Product Development and Nutra Science in the design, identification, and assessment of new product opportunities in the Vascular and Nutra areas, based on consumer, patient, and healthcare professional (HCP) insights.
  • Lead assigned global and local innovation projects, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
  • Define and evaluate key ingredients, mechanisms of action, and formulation strategies consistent with brand positioning and regulatory requirements.
  • Support business protection initiatives and contribute to the scientific assessment of in‑licensing and partnership opportunities, particularly within the Gastrointestinal Health area.
  • Stay up to date with scientific trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in the nutraceutical and GI health fields.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an R&D or Scientific role within Consumer Healthcare, ideally in a global or regional environment.
  • Strong scientific background in the nutraceutical field, ideally with expertise in Vascular and Uro‑Gynecological areas.
  • Additional knowledge of cosmetics and/or medical devices is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of ingredients, formulations, and manufacturing processes.
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, or related scientific disciplines.
  • Hands‑on experience in a product development laboratory, with solid knowledge of both liquid and solid dosage forms and industrial scale‑up processes.
  • Strong understanding of active ingredients, excipients, their interactions, and potential incompatibilities.
  • Good knowledge of stability testing protocols in compliance with ICH guidelines.
  • “Industrial feasibility” mindset with awareness of manufacturing machinery and workflows.
  • Ability to translate scientific concepts into product innovation relevant to consumers.
  • Proven experience in developing Consumer Healthcare products (food supplements, medical devices, cosmetics).
  • Familiarity with analytical methodologies (HPLC, GC, UV, ICP, etc.) and method implementation.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (Food Supplements, MDR, Cosmetics; OTC experience is a plus).
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to work independently and within a dynamic R&D environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with scientific and technological advancements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
