Mechanical Field Service Engineer Centrifugal Compressor

Apply for the Mechanical Field Service Engineer Centrifugal Compressor role at Baker Hughes. We offer an opportunity to lead installation and maintenance activities on‑site with our customers, ensuring safe and compliant operations in centrifugal and reciprocating compressor products.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical direction for site activities to internal teams and skilled labor to ensure safety, compliance, and quality.
  • Overseeing overhaul, troubleshooting and commissioning of centrifugal and reciprocating compressor products at customer sites.
  • Leading customer and contractor meetings to share and update action plans and advise on technical solutions.
  • Ensuring internal training, compliance and quality documentation is updated, followed, and completed according to company standards.

Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma.
  • Good working knowledge of the installation and maintenance of rotating equipment.
  • Customer‑service orientation and experience leading customers through tough decisions.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to customers and teams with varying levels of technical understanding.
  • Strong awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and potential risks.
  • Motivated self‑starter, able to make key decisions and innovate solutions.
  • Excellent command of written and verbal English.
  • EU passport/European work permit and Italian language proficiency.
  • Ready to travel significantly (up to 80%) without geographical restriction, including offshore facilities.

In this role you will travel to and work on customer sites in line with customer requirements. The duration and hours of work on site will align with customer requirements. Between assignments you will have free time in accordance with Baker Hughes working time guidelines and fatigue management provisions.
