About the vacancy

NewCold is expanding into the Italian market. With two development projects for cold storage warehouses in Piacenza and Ferrentino we will be serving the Italian food chain market soon. In order to be able to facilitate the growth and be prepared for the operations to be running, we are expanding our management team. Therefore, we are looking for an HR Manager Italy who will help us to set up the Italian NewCold organization in a professional way. This position will be reporting into the Country Manager Italy and the VP Global People & Culture.

What will you do?

You will be joining the team at an early stage and make sure that the Italian organization is set-up in a professional way and well prepared for growth ahead. You will help find the key people for our future warehouse operations and staff the warehouses once they are ready to go operational. You will be working as a strong partner and advisor for the Italian management team and will be part of NewCold’s European HR team.

Key Tasks

• Supervises local daily HR operations such as payroll, pension, personnel insurances, absenteeism, commencement / termination of employment, leave registration, lease car fleet management
• Develops local HR strategy in line with the organizational strategy
• Designs, implements, and monitors a variety of local human resource programs and aligns them with the European / global approach
• Monitors HR information needs, ensuring that HR management information is available on request
• Coordinates local recruitment processes for various job levels
• Partners with local suppliers, such as payrolling, legal, insurance, lease car companies, etc.
• Serves as first point of contact for employees for human resources issues, rules, and regulations
• Collects, processes, and manages all local personnel data and ensures accurate and concise records at all stages of the employee journey
• Monitors and administers absenteeism of the local organization, in line with health and safety legislation

Who are we looking for?

You have a deep understanding of general HR Management and you are experienced as an HR Manager or HR Business Partner for Italian businesses. You are an HR Expert for the Italian market, but are used to be part of an international HR Team that cares about a common approach regarding topics like recruitment, employer branding, talent management, talent development, succession planning etc.

Qualifications and Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or comparable studies
• At least 7 to 10 years of work experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager with Italian businesses (ideally in cold store logistics, supply chain, FMCG of similar industries)
• Experienced in general HR Management
• Used to a high volume of recruitment activities
• Strong administrational as well as management skills
• Experiences in dealing with COBAS, labor unions etc.
• Experiences in handling casual contracts
• In-depth knowledge of Italian labor law and social security system
• Structural and detail-oriented way of working
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
• Used to working in a matrix organization
• Driven and determined
• Resilient and assertive
• Team player
• Fluent in Italian and English, both verbal and in writing
• Open to business travel within Italy
