Job Title: Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Location: Milan, Italy

Employment Type: 5 Months Contract starting at the end of November

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the testing, commissioning, and integration of generator systems within a large-scale data centre project in Italy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical power systems, generator control, and load testing, with the ability to work collaboratively with project and client teams to ensure reliable and compliant system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and document commissioning activities for diesel and gas generator systems and associated electrical infrastructure in data centres.
  • Perform functional and performance testing, including load bank testing, synchronization, and system integration with switchgear and UPS systems.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and safety standards (CEI, IEC, ISO, etc.).
  • Coordinate with design, installation, and client teams to identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning.
  • Prepare commissioning reports, test documentation, and sign‑off certificates.
  • Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) as required.
  • Participate in risk assessments and ensure safe work practices throughout commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical support and training to site and client teams on generator operation and maintenance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in commissioning or maintenance of generator systems, LV/MV switchgear, or critical power systems.
  • Experience in data centre or mission‑critical environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, control systems, and protection relays.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Italian is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across Italy and Europe as required.
  • Valid EU work authorization (or eligibility to work in Italy).

Desirable

  • Familiarity with generator brands (e.g., MTU, Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler, etc.).
  • Experience with commissioning management systems (CMS) and test documentation tools.
  • Knowledge of data centre commissioning processes (Level 1–5).
