Position Overview

Space Industries S.p.A., a leading aerospace company specializing in the assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) of small satellites, is seeking an experienced Quality Control Engineer to ensure the highest levels of quality, precision, and compliance throughout all space production activities.

The selected candidate will be responsible for executing inspections and verifications on flight hardware, subsystems, and assemblies, ensuring full adherence to ECSS standards, customer requirements, and company quality procedures.

This role requires a hands-on engineer with strong expertise in space manufacturing, AIT operations, and quality control processes, able to work autonomously in a high-reliability environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on components, subsystems, and satellite assemblies
  • Verify compliance of materials and processes with ECSS standards, drawings, specifications, and quality plans
  • Conduct visual inspections, dimensional checks, torque verification, and cleanliness assessments (FOD control)
  • Review and validate quality documentation (CoC, CoM, inspection reports, test results)
  • Support and monitor AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) activities to ensure proper execution and traceability
  • Identify and report non-conformances, prepare NCRs, and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with Product Assurance, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve quality issues
  • Ensure correct handling, packaging, and storage of flight hardware in accordance with aerospace standards
  • Participate in project reviews (MRR, TRR, TRB, QR, FR) providing inspection data and quality evidence
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of inspection methods, tools, and quality control processes

Requirements

  • Degree or technical diploma in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or related fields
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as Quality Control Engineer or Inspector in the aerospace sector, preferably on small satellite or space equipment programs
  • Solid knowledge of ECSS standards and space quality assurance requirements
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical/electronic inspections, assembly verification, and AIT processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and specifications
  • Experience with measurement tools, inspection documentation, and traceability systems
  • Strong attention to detail, precision, and documentation accuracy
  • Capability to work independently and manage multiple inspection tasks in parallel
  • Good knowledge of English (written and spoken)
  • Holder of a valid category B driving license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in ESA / ASI programs and institutional space missions
  • Familiarity with cleanroom operations and ESD protection procedures
  • Knowledge of EN 9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Certification or training in aerospace quality inspection or ECSS-Q standards
