For our Italy location, we are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Train Performance Manager (TPM) - Loco.
Purpose of the job
The Train Performance Manager is responsible for ensuring train performance fulfills customer and regulatory requirements, in compliance with project QCD objectives. Functionally reporting to the Chief of Development, he/she will be the main focal point for the customer on train performance topics, managing train level performance requirements & specifications and allocation at Sub-System level. He/she will support Sub-Systems and ensure design convergence towards defined targets. The role includes accountability for Train Reliability, Logistic Support Analysis (LSA), cybersecurity, validation, and engineering contribution to certification and authorization.
Position in the Organization & Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main technical focal point for the customer regarding train performance topics.
- Convert customer and regulatory requirements into train-level requirements & specifications, including service requirements.
- Collect and analyze customer needs and requirements.
- Perform operational analysis.
- Develop a consistent set of train-level requirements & specifications, complying with Alstom standards.
- Lead functional analysis, specification, and architecture in collaboration with Sub-systems Groups, especially Control & Information System (C&IS).
- Derive requirements & specifications at Subsystem level, including service requirements.
- Manage electrical & functional interfaces, ensuring consistency with Mechanical interface (Train Architecture).
- Allocate requirements and specifications to Sub-Systems, ensuring compatibility between all Sub-Systems specifications.
- Review and confirm Sub-Systems architecture and support the Chief of Development in technical arbitration and risk mitigation.
- Support Sub-Systems throughout the project lifecycle to ensure convergence towards requirements and specifications.
- Ensure Reliability activities and report on risk management.
- Ensure Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) activities are conducted.
- If applicable, optimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for maintenance options.
- Define and execute train verification and validation activities, including using Trainlab when relevant.
- Contribute to certification and authorization by delivering required documentation and supporting the certification team.
- Lead technical resolution of open issues during train revenue service, from investigation to implementation and closure.
Experience Prerequisites & Required Competences
- Over 5 years of experience in railway engineering, with extensive knowledge of products (especially locomotives), projects, systems, and company processes.
- Strong skills in technical management, analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making in complex environments.
- Customer-oriented mindset.
