Overview

Software Development Manager - Just Walk Out Technology (JWO). As part of the AWS Solutions organization, the team builds and scales the Just Walk Out technology used in checkout-free stores. The role involves leading a software development team to define, drive, and execute on the vision for JWO, including collaboration with product managers, technical specialists, and senior leadership. The team works across computer vision, machine learning, distributed systems, and hardware design to deliver the core platform for JWO.

Responsibilities

  • Define the long-term vision, strategy, and goals for your teams
  • Manage a development team responsible for the core of Amazon Go\'s Just Walk Out technology
  • Prioritize, plan projects and features, manage partners, and track external commitments
  • Drive continual improvements to the efficiency and flexibility of the platform while maintaining high customer trust, performance, and availability
  • Foster the career development of your direct reports

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective software engineers
