Head of Regulatory Compliance (Italy) – Mercuryo. Based in Padova, you will lead Mercuryo’s Regulatory Compliance activities in Italy and report to the Group Head of Regulatory Compliance.
Overview
We’re Mercuryo, a platform blending traditional banking with DeFi innovations to enable easy access to Web3 and financial services. You will work within the Risk & Compliance team to develop and maintain a robust regulatory framework for Italy, drive MiCA implementation locally, and manage relationships with regulators and stakeholders.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s compliance program and policies to ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments and advise senior management on potential impacts to the company.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Lead and manage regulatory compliance efforts, providing guidance and support to ensure effective operations.
- Oversee the development and delivery of compliance training programs for employees.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors, managing regulatory examinations and ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders (Legal, Finance, Operations, IT) to integrate compliance into business processes.
- Create and update compliance policies and procedures, ensuring they are communicated and enforced across the organization.
- Monitor, test, and analyze the effectiveness of the compliance program, making improvements as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Product Team to support the release of new and enhanced products across the Mercuryo group.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all regulatory compliance-related matters within the organization and as a strategic partner to senior management for Italy operations.
- Work with global teams to implement activities to expand Mercuryo’s value proposition, brand awareness, and market share locally.
- Foster relationships with local banking institutions to enable regional customers to access Mercuryo Services.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with compliance, legal, and government relations teams to drive business operations for the region.
- Build relationships and contribute to the local community through strategic initiatives in the digital asset ecosystem.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in law, business and economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in regulatory compliance, ideally with a regulatory body and within crypto-asset, fintech, or financial instruments markets.
- Solid understanding of MiCA, MiFID II, PSD2, and EMD2 and their implications for the business.
- Strong knowledge of second-line compliance oversight areas, including regulatory compliance and consumer protection.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex compliance issues to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- High integrity, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive information.
- Fluent in English.
