Job Description
Supervise inspection activities across mechanical disciplines including welding, dimensional control, and coating/painting operations. Verify Quality Control Plans implementation, manage inspection teams, and ensure all quality records are properly collected for project completion and client handover. This role offers specialization tracks based on technical expertise and project requirements.
Location: Project-based (International assignments)
Experience Level: Mid to Senior (5-12 years)

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and witness inspections, check reports and verify collection of Quality Records
- Review Quality Control Plans and verify tests/inspections are performed according to QC Plans/Inspection Test Plans
- Evaluate qualification of inspection personnel and verify work procedures including special processes
- Check availability and adequacy of consumables, equipment, and instrumentation
- Verify materials and equipment are correctly received, stored, preserved, calibrated, and traceable
- Oversee subcontractor activities, witness inspections, and collect Quality Control Records
- Verify preparation of Quality works dossier and ensure records are retrievable in As-Built documentation
- Ensure NCR management process is in place and effective
- Support QC Information System setup and coating production activities
- Act as QC Inspector when necessary
Technical Specialization Areas
Mechanical
- Steel structures erection sequences and methodologies
- Piping, engines, fluid machines, and naval mechanical operations
- Equipment receiving inspections and material traceability
- Coating and painting techniques for mechanical items
Welding
- Welding processes and defect identification
- NDT methodologies and operations
- Welding parameters, consumables, and procedures (WPS/PQR)
- Welder qualifications and heat treatment processes
Dimensional Control
- Dimensional control technologies and methodologies
- Measurements during fabrication, construction, erection, and installation
- Tolerance definition and constructability analysis
- As-built dimensional dossier preparation
Coating & Painting
- Anticorrosion and coating techniques
- Surface preparation and atmospheric condition monitoring
- Wet and dry film thickness testing
- Coating/painting inspections per international standards (BGAS CSWIP or equivalent)
Qualifications
Education:
- Technical diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
Experience:
- 5-12 years in Quality Control inspection and supervision
- Minimum 3-5 years hands-on experience in at least one specialization area
- Experience in oil & gas, offshore, construction, or fabrication projects
- Site-based QC supervision experience required
Certifications (based on specialization):
- Welding Inspector certification (CSWIP, AWS CWI, or equivalent)
- Coating Inspector certification (BGAS CSWIP, NACE, or equivalent)
- NDT Level II certification (for welding specialists)
- Industry-specific certifications as required by project
Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of Quality Control Plans and Inspection Test Plans
- Proficiency with industry standards (ASTM, ASME, AWS, ACI, API, NACE, etc.)
- Understanding of construction sequences and planning
- Instrument calibration control capabilities
- Knowledge of warehouse procedures for material preservation
- Familiarity with QC management tools and databases
