Global Head of Occupational Health & Safety
Huhtamaki is currently looking for a Global Head of Occupational Health and Safety to lead our Group Health & Safety strategy, roadmap, and team.
Your opportunity
In this position, you will set the strategic direction for safety to achieve “Zero Harm”, provide governance across Huhtamaki to ensure programs and systems are effectively deployed to deliver a safer workplace.
Reporting into the EVP HR, Safety & Communications, this is a key leadership role that supports business leaders and OHS professionals globally by coaching, influencing and partnering.
Where you’ll be
You should be located near one of our sites in Europe with a willingness to travel globally.
Site locations include: Finland (Espoo), UK & Ireland (Gosport, Blackburn, Ennis, Lurgan), Germany (Ronsberg or Alf), Netherlands (Leeuwarden or Franeker), France (La Rochelle), Italy (Tortona) or Poland (Czeladz or Gliwice).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the global safety leadership team of subject matter experts and OHS leaders, providing strong expertise and support to our business segments
- Continue to enhance, develop and deploy global safety strategic plans to achieve “Zero Harm”
- Drive and further evolve our safety KPI’s, management system, standards and governance
- Collaborate and develop communities of practice holistically across the business
- Continue to drive opportunities for OHS in digitalization and automation, and drive modern ways of working
- Further development and constant deployment of OHS policies, procedures and requirements on a global basis
- Leading the Centre of Expertise as a trusted business partner across all business segments
- Identify and develop future talent in safety across Huhtamaki
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- 8+ years of relevant experience across OHS functions, with 5+ years’ experience implementing and sustaining safety programs in a global manufacturing organization
- Experience in leading a global safety leadership team, managing multiple global stakeholders in a matrix organization
- Demonstrated experience in implementing global safety processes and management systems
- Empathic and integrative communicator with the ability to motivate larger organizations to embrace a safety culture, encouraging pro‑active contribution
- Strong visibility within the global OHS community, including membership in relevant organizations and bodies
- A passion for OHS with a personal conviction to make workplaces safer and healthier
- Excellent coaching and influencing skills with the ability to lead with and without direct supervision
- Familiarity with the TPM methodology and pillar deployment preferred
- The ability to handle ambiguity
- Fluency in English
- Willingness to travel internationally
