Job Description

In the new organization of J&J Innovative Medicine Italy, the Governmental Affairs & Policy and Patient Engagement Department has taken on a more strategic role within the overall OpCO strategy, driven by significant changes at both global and national levels. To support this evolution, we seek a dedicated professional with advanced legislative drafting skills, policy development expertise, and a strong institutional network. This role is essential to ensure the company’s responsiveness and proactivity in achieving strategic policy goals.

Role Purpose

This fixed term / maternity cover position will support J&J’s innovative medicine business by building and managing trusted relationships with institutional stakeholders and national think tanks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a proactive framework to support business interests by shaping legislation, policies, and regulations at the state level.
  • Represent the company with government officials and stakeholder organizations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with policymakers and regulators to advance favorable policy initiatives.
  • Establish alliances with industry associations and relevant groups to influence legislative and regulatory agendas.
  • Build partnerships with external organizations, including trade associations and coalitions, to gather early intelligence on emerging policy issues.
  • Serve as an “early warning system” for internal stakeholders on important policy trends.
  • Collaborate with internal government affairs teams to identify issues and develop strategies to influence legislation and policy.
  • Support the company’s social responsibility initiatives within the regulated products sector.
  • Engage with external partners to amplify CSR efforts and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop advocacy strategies to support the company’s interests at the institutional level.
  • Enhance monitoring and reporting processes to identify and respond to emerging issues.
  • Create and execute a government relations engagement plan, including leadership team involvement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in legislative drafting.
  • University degree (preferably in law, political science, or economics).
  • Fluency in English and Italian (mandatory).
  • Strong relationship-building skills.

Location : the Company is based in Milan, the role is based in Rome.
