The Mission of Amazon's Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is to "Build world-class general-purpose intelligence services that benefits every Amazon business and humanity." Are you a data enthusiast? Are you a creative big thinker who is passionate about using data to direct decision making and solve complex and large-scale challenges? If so, then this position is for you! We are looking for a motivated individual with strong analytical and communication skills to join us.

In this role you will apply advanced analytics techniques, AI/ML, and statistical concepts to derive insights from massive datasets. You will design experiments, build models, develop metrics to deeply understand our systems, and build dashboards to automate data collection and reporting. You will turn your findings into actionable recommendations that maximize customer impact. You will write detailed reports and communicate findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

A successful candidate is a self‑starter, comfortable with ambiguity, highly detail oriented, and thrives in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment. You will also coach and mentor junior scientists on the team, and communicate results effectively to diverse audiences.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience
  • 5+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab, etc.)
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science, or Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience
  • Experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing data pipelines
  • Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team
  • Experience working with scientists, economists, software developers, or product managers
  • Experience working with data engineers and business intelligence engineers collaboratively

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
