OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE

The BIM Specialist creates and manages detailed BIM models for the design and engineering of electrical cable systems, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with project requirements. They develop technical documentation for internal teams, subcontractors, and clients while optimizing designs for competitiveness. The role supports data exchange, maintains BIM standards, and contributes to workflow improvements.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Object library development in alignment with wider BIM strategy.
  • Support the project coordinator in assurance and checking of the information model and creating check reports.
  • Producing the information model.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders in producing the information models.
  • Understand projects' BIM execution plan (BEP), TIDPs / MIDPs, MPDT.
  • Use of the CDE for information exchange.
  • Ensure compliance with BIM standards and contribute to workflow improvements.

Minimum Experience and Skills :

  • Specific experience in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
  • Proven experience in large linear infrastructure projects (e.g., piping, electrical networks, railways).
  • Experience with BIM processes in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of cable construction techniques and key characteristics.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D or other authoring tools used in infrastructural projects.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining a BIM object catalogue.
  • Proven experience using CDE platforms (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud) for information exchange.
  • Basic knowledge of GIS software (e.g., QGIS, Esri or similar).
  • Basic knowledge of Dynamo or other programming/scripting languages is an advantage.
