MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is a global business engaged in the shipping sector. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, since 1978, MSC is a privately-owned organization driven by the Aponte family.

Since the end of 2022, we have started developing a new MSC Air Cargo solution in response to customer demand and as a complementary service to its container shipping solutions.

THE ROLE

The Network Performance and Cost Control Analyst for Air Cargo will assess the performance of the air cargo network and manage cost control measures. This role involves improving network efficiency, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing cost-saving strategies to support the strategic objectives of the organization.

YOUR IMPACT

Network performance:

• Assist Network Planning and the Head of Network in identifying potential routes through cost analysis, market inputs, and recommendations.
• Participate in decision-making processes with stakeholders and provide cross-department support based on network costs.
• Collaborate with other departments and leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects impacting network costs.
• Assist in producing flight cost modeling and proforma results per flight and aircraft for commercial decisions.
• Produce weekly performance reports, forecasts, monthly reporting, and implement KPIs.
• Conduct ad hoc work and analysis to develop a long-term network and fleet plan, and manage projects impacting network performance.

Network cost control:

• Set up and manage the cost control process, considering fixed and variable costs specific to the aircrafts and MSC business units.
• Ensure the completeness of cost reporting per flight with Pre/Post cost inputs, including airport, and ground handling.
• Update cost breakdown structure according to existing estimates and assist in implementing new cost control systems.
• Maintain the cost allocation and database systems (prices, cost allocation methodology, operations cost averages).
• Reconcile all costs from the ACMI agreement, including all logistic activities operated on MSC’s behalf.
• Assist in different projects to optimize and automate the Cost Control function with systems and applications.
• Document the cost allocation process and implement checks and internal controls.
• Coordinate with local Operations and network in Italy to share a common controlling and cost control methodology.
• Provide useful information to Network Planning for decision making, including monthly network costing and various cost forecasts.
• Support and prepare analysis for potential cost reductions to the Head of Network to improve company profitability.
• Share improvement plans and cost-saving actions with the Head of Network and the procurement function if necessary

YOUR BACKGROUND

• 5-7 years’ experience in controlling or cost controlling, with proven experience in cost control, planning, and some project management.
• Master’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
• Self-motivated, strong team player with high flexibility and initiative.
• Airfreight or aviation experience is a plus.
• System-oriented with programming skills as a plus.
