Technical Advisor

Overview

We are looking for Technical Advisors (junior through senior level) to join a growing international team, with a focus on the Italian solar and storage sector. The role is based in Milan, with hybrid / remote working. You will be supporting renewable energy projects in Italy and Spain, as well as contributing to activities in other European markets. Depending on your level of experience, you will either take a leading role in project delivery and client management, or provide valuable support while developing your skills and expertise.

Your role

You will provide technical and commercial consultancy services to Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and hybrid projects, advising developers, operators, lenders and investors. Responsibilities may include :

• Technical and commercial due diligence for PV, BESS and hybrid projects / portfolios
• Assessing risks and mitigation measures (energy yield, permitting, environmental constraints, grid connection, contracts, CapEx / OpEx, project timelines, etc.)
• Solar resource and energy production assessments using simulation tools (e.g. PVsyst)
• Construction and operational monitoring
• Bespoke owner’s engineer services
• Strategic advisory work
• Client relationship management and business development (more emphasis at senior level)
• Managing projects, budgets and internal / external resources (for senior consultants)

Essential skills and qualifications (for all applicants)

• Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or similar
• Native / fluent Italian and fluent English
• Knowledge of solar PV project development and the Italian market (grid, land, permitting, environmental requirements, hybridisation, etc.)
• Ability to produce clear, concise and accurate reports in English
• Willingness to travel occasionally for project work

Senior Consultants (typically 5+ years’ experience)

• Proven track record in consultancy, leading technical due diligence processes for solar and storage projects
• Ability to review construction / operation contracts and assess commercial implications of technical risks
• Experience managing client relationships, budgets and project teams

Junior Consultants (1–3+ years’ experience)

• Practical experience in renewable energy projects
• Understanding of solar PV and interest in energy storage / hybrid projects
• Eagerness to develop consultancy skills and take on increasing responsibility

Nice-to-have (any level)

• Experience in other renewable technologies (storage, hybridisation, hydrogen)
• Owner’s engineering, construction monitoring and / or asset management
• Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese or other European markets
• Additional language skills (Spanish and / or Portuguese)
