Jefferson Wells – Life Sciences & Healthcare is seeking a Head of HSE for a leading international company in the chemical‑pharmaceutical sector.

Role Mission

Drive the site’s EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) strategy and culture, ensuring employee safety, environmental protection and regulatory compliance, while enabling operational efficiency and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure EHS Regulatory Compliance: provide guidance to managers and employees, support internal and external audits, and design corrective/preventive action plans.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: identify EHS risks and implement proactive measures, integrating “EHS by design” principles into processes and investments.
• Annual EHS Plan: develop, implement, and monitor the site’s EHS plan in collaboration with the leadership team.
• Promote EHS Culture: foster a proactive safety culture, encouraging open communication and innovative ideas.
• Training and Coaching: design training programs and provide technical and managerial support.
• Continuous Improvement: lead EHS improvement initiatives using Operational Excellence principles.
• Manage EHS Team: recruit, develop, and motivate the site’s EHS team.
• RSPP Role: act as Safety Supervisor according to Italian Law (D.Lgs 81/2008).
• External Relations: build proactive relationships with regulatory agencies, local communities, and suppliers to ensure compliance and social responsibility.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science; Master’s in safety/industrial hygiene/environment is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
• Knowledge of management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 45001).
• Fluent in Italian and English.
