About DESY

DESY, with over 2900 employees at its locations in Hamburg and Zeuthen, is a leading international research centre. Its focus is on understanding the structure and function of matter, from the universe's smallest particles to the building blocks of life. DESY's advanced infrastructure and interdisciplinary networks make it an attractive workplace in science, technology, and administration, fostering the education of future scientists.

Research Environment

The DESY NanoLab conducts research in X-ray physics and nanoscience, providing characterization and preparation methods complementary to other DESY facilities. The P21.2 beamline at PETRA III offers versatile high-energy X-ray diffraction and imaging for materials science. We are seeking talented postdocs to collaborate on lightweight materials projects, conducting synchrotron X-ray and microscopy experiments.

Your Role

  1. Collaborate with project partners at DESY and industry
  2. Develop scientific interests related to the project
  3. Conduct experiments at X-ray beamlines, analyze data, and correlate with microscopy investigations
  4. Innovate instrumentation and methods, support related experiments at P21.2
  5. Perform corrosion experiments in the NanoLab

Why Join Us

Enjoy a unique international research environment with a focus on respectful cooperation and employee well-being. We promote gender equality, flexible working hours, part-time options, job-sharing, and mobile work (up to 50%).
