Your Tasks

• You’re responsible for working with the Divisions to define and set priority focus areas for project consideration
• You’re responsible for collaborating with the global automation team on standards and solutions, ensuring that the global approach to process automation is represented across the European operations, and that European ideas and solutions are shared with the global teams
• You’re responsible for planning and directing project activities that have significant business impact, as well as ensuring the successful completion of all project deliverables. This includes developing project plans that outline the schedule, scope, and quality objectives
• You’re responsible for working with European leadership to develop automation concepts that support key operational areas within a branch, and for assisting in the design and development of solutions that help secure future business
• You’re responsible for leading efforts to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, propose alternative solutions, and resolve issues in collaboration with cross-functional groups
• You’re responsible for providing senior-level, advanced technical oversight to the Automation team
• You’re responsible for applying advanced technical knowledge to advise project teams and senior management on planning, design, and technical implementation
• You’re responsible for developing and supporting a high-performing Automation Engineering organization, including accountability for talent acquisition, talent management, engagement, training, safety, and career development
• You’re responsible for managing the overall responsibilities and performance of the automation function
• You’re responsible for coaching, mentoring, leading, and managing departmental employees to ensure effective team development and performance

Your Profile

• You have experience in the material handling industry, with a strong focus on the latest automation technologies, ensuring you stay at the forefront of industry advancements
• You bring the ability to lead data analysis efforts, driving the identification of the correct equipment or automation solution to optimize operations
• You have a deep understanding of distribution centre operations and how to apply material handling automation to improve efficiency and productivity
• You have earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering (such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls), Computer Science, Robotics, or a comparable technical field, with an advanced degree being preferred, showcasing your commitment to specialized knowledge
• You bring a minimum of 7-10 years of related experience in consulting, engineering, or automation, equipping you with the expertise to handle complex challenges in these fields
• You have extensive experience in process automation, building automation, automation systems architecture, cost estimating and controls, and project management, allowing you to lead projects from concept to completion
• You have a demonstrated track record of successfully managing technical and/or engineering disciplines, ensuring that your leadership fosters successful project outcomes
• You have excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, enabling you to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical ideas clearly
• Ideally, you can produce designs using CAD (such as AutoCAD) or other tools, allowing you to communicate complex design ideas in a clear and precise manner
• Ideally, you have a solid understanding of simulation tools, which enhances your ability to test and optimize designs before implementation
• You bring strong operations analysis ability and the skill to interpret data, enabling you to produce effective design solutions that meet both functional and operational needs
