System Administrator HRZ (m/f/d) I 019/25

Our team offers a wide range of central IT services to over 12,000 students, around 300 professors, 450 employees and 700 external teaching staff. As part of the advertised position, you will assume central responsibility for the subject area "Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)" in the HRZ. MACH products are currently used here, in particular meinERP and MACHWeb.

Your main field of activity will be the operation of the server systems and databases for the university's MACH software. You will deal with issues relating to fail-safe operation during software updates, aspects of scalability and compliance with data protection regulations for sensitive data. You will work closely with the specialist administrators in the Human Resources Department and the Budget Department. You will support the University Computer Center with specific requests in your area of responsibility. In the future, you will support the university in expanding digital administration through the consistent use of MACH systems in all administrative areas.

Field of activity

  • Management and operation of the servers for the MACH products
  • Scalable and secure operation of networks and server systems
  • Monitoring the operability of the central IT infrastructure, initiating prompt countermeasures in the event of failures or IT attacks
  • Implementation of quality of service properties for HRZ services on the IT infrastructures supported (performance, information security, availability, data backup)
  • Commissioning and managing external service providers for specific aspects of university-wide IT operations
  • Designing the IT infrastructure in the area of responsibility, taking into account data protection and security aspects
  • Project planning of university-wide IT infrastructures that will be operated by the HRZ in the future
  • Supporting the HRZ management in the preparation and implementation of the budget plan
  • Procurement of necessary hardware and software components
  • Checking the delivery and performance of third parties
  • Settlement of service and supply contracts
  • Support for university members
  • 3rd level support for specific problems in your own technical area of responsibility

Technical requirements

  • Completed scientific university degree (Master's / Diploma) in computer science or in a subject with comparable content or equivalent knowledge and experience (presentation of the degree at the latest at the time of signing the employment contract)
  • At least three years of experience in the scalable and fail-safe operation of networks or server applications in large organizations (at least 100 IT users)
  • In-depth specialist knowledge of operating server applications with Windows or Linux
  • User knowledge of IT security, BSI IT baseline protection and GDPR
  • Knowledge of 3rd level support
  • Confident knowledge of written and spoken German
  • Good knowledge of technical English
  • In addition, it is an advantage:
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of MACH myERP
  • Knowledge of load balancing in Linux environments
  • Knowledge of Microsoft database technologies
