Job Description

1. Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence for AbbVie at investigational sites and key scientific centers by facilitating clinical research, especially interventional phase 1-3 trials with AbbVie drugs, and support requests for medical and scientific information.
2. Establish and maintain close working relationships with Site Management & Monitoring staff to facilitate the initiation and conduct of prioritized AbbVie-led clinical trials.
3. Provide scientific and technical leadership to foster professional relationships with investigators.
4. Consult with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals to refer appropriate patients to Clinical Trial sites and review clinical practice topics as requested.
5. Act as the contact point with thought leaders to facilitate investigator-initiated studies (IIS) and support requests to the medical teams.
6. Deliver credible presentations on scientific topics within the disease area and about AbbVie's pipeline to investigators.
7. Participate in the selection of external experts for collaborations, ensuring scientific integrity in these efforts.
8. Identify opportunities for R&D collaborations with key institutions and liaise with relevant teams for assessment.
9. Maintain medical field intelligence, including investigator lists, understanding of research activities, and insights on clinical trial challenges and opportunities.
10. Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences.
11. Assist physicians with access requests to AbbVie medicines on a named patient or compassionate use basis, complying with legal and regulatory standards.
12. Provide clinical insights for countries involved in early touchpoint processes and support future clinical development programs.
13. Ensure all activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and company policies.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, MD) in a relevant scientific discipline is strongly preferred.
• Experience in developing and maintaining expertise in the assigned therapeutic area and in medical research.
• At least 1 year of professional experience as a Medical Manager or Medical Science Liaison (MSL).
• Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and Medical Affairs role.
• Demonstrated expertise in scientific methods applicable to clinical research and regulatory controls.
• Ability to quickly learn about new subject areas and environments.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English is desirable.
• High customer orientation, commitment to compliance, scientific quality, and integrity.
