Job Description: HW Verification Engineer at Eclipse Foundation Europe GmbH

The Eclipse Foundation Europe GmbH is hiring a Hardware Verification Engineer for its OpenHW Foundation. As a member of the Eclipse Research Team, the candidate will verify industrial-grade open-source IPs based on RISC-V, including but not limited to:

  • Lock-step execution of dual-core systems based on CVA6
  • Cache-coherency blocks
  • Hypervisor ISA Extensions
  • IO Memory-Management Units
  • Advanced Interrupt Architecture

This role involves initial contributions to the verification of the CVE2 core for the TRISTAN project, then switching to the Rigoletto project, both EU-funded, for approximately 3 years.

The TRISTAN project aims to enhance and industrialize the European RISC-V ecosystem, promoting European digital sovereignty. The Rigoletto project focuses on creating a RISC-V automotive hardware platform supporting an open source, software-defined vehicle ecosystem, aligned with EU industry initiatives.

The role supports the verification of open-source IPs to achieve a TRL5 Technical Readiness Level, promoting European independence in digital hardware.

Location: Candidates must reside in Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, or Germany.

Responsibilities include:

  • Using SystemVerilog and UVM to develop and extend testbenches, verifying IPs with random instructions
  • Managing open-source projects on GitHub under core-v-verif
  • Verifying RISC-V CPUs, ISA extensions, peripherals, cache-coherency, and dual-core systems
  • Integrating and extending existing CPU designs
  • Supporting initiatives of the OpenHW Technical Working Group to promote participation and adoption
  • Supporting the broader objectives of the Eclipse Foundation’s European research activities, including community engagement, dissemination, and representation at conferences
  • Working remotely within a global team

Candidate requirements:

  • Proficiency with SystemVerilog and UVM, especially coverage-driven, constrained-random verification
  • Knowledge of Linux, Make, Python, computer architectures, peripherals, bus protocols, interrupt controllers, MMUs, caches, and multicore systems
  • Familiarity with RISC-V specifications, simulation tools, Formal Verification, RTL design, and Git is advantageous

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in EE or CS with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
