Huawei's Nuremberg Research Center

Huawei's Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Network Energy Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design, and Strategic Technology Planning.

The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within the center focuses on Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design, and Strategic Technology Planning. It plays a vital role in Huawei's Digital Power business, particularly in designing and developing power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage, Data Centers, Electric Vehicles, and Embedded Power Supplies.

Senior Engineer on Grid-Tied Inverter Control & Power System (m/f/d)

Your mission

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to define power system and grid-tied inverter control requirements, especially for renewable energy integration.
  2. Engage with Grid Operators, Power Suppliers, and Energy Consumers to stay updated on industry developments and provide insights through technical reports.
  3. Research cutting-edge power system technologies and identify future inverter control trends.
  4. Work with standardization bodies to influence grid code updates and keep pace with standards for Solar PV and Energy Storage systems.
  5. Foster innovation by generating new ideas and securing intellectual property (IP).
  6. Mentor and support less experienced engineers, promoting a collaborative environment.

Your areas of expertise

We seek candidates with various levels of experience, from seasoned engineers to senior experts, who possess:

  • A Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related fields.
  • Experience in power generation, transmission, distribution, including grid-tied inverter control technologies.
  • Knowledge of grid stability, power flow control, inverter control, grid-forming, and protection systems.
  • Familiarity with international and national standards for Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems.
  • A record of technology development, research, or innovation, demonstrated through publications, patents, or R&D projects.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset, and willingness to innovate.
  • Fluent English skills; additional languages are a plus.
