Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology:
Chair of Embedded Systems

In order to fill afixed-term position in part-time (9,96 Std./Woche = 25%) at the earliest possible date, we are looking for 1

PhD Part Time in Machine Learning in Embedded Systems Design (m/f/x)

At our chair, we specialize in a wide range of cutting-edge topics, including design automation of embedded systems, reliability optimization, design of fault-tolerant and predictable architectures, approximate computation, and electronic design automation for FPGAs. We are particularly interested in researching beyond CMOS technologies and reconfigurable architectures to push the boundaries of what is possible in embedded systems. As a new addition to the academic landscape at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, our chair is dedicated to fostering collaboration, advancing future-oriented research, and nurturing the next generation of embedded systems leaders. Join us on an exciting journey to shape the future of technology and innovation.

This project investigates different ML techniques, finding out suitable models for a particular purpose and studies some of the key questions. Which metrics are required to be analyzed & predicted using edge-inference. Which metrics can be analyzed & predicted on cloud side? What are effective models considering latency, memory consumption, size, complexity etc., when planned to be used on the Edge.
