Job summary

ISL Qatar is seeking a Whole School PHE Lead to drive an ambitious, inquiry-based Physical and Health Education program across the IB PYP, MYP and DP frameworks. You will provide curriculum leadership, mentor PHE teachers and partner with coordinators to ensure continuity, progression and high standards across Primary, Middle and High School.

The role combines teaching with strategic curriculum development, safeguarding and wellbeing initiatives, aligned with ISL Qatar's values and accreditation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Health Education or a relevant field.
• Recognised teaching qualification appropriate to the role.
• Proven experience teaching Physical and Health Education at Primary and/or Secondary School levels.
• Experience with IB programmes, particularly PYP and MYP.
• Experience in curriculum leadership, subject coordination or mentoring teachers.
• Experience in an international school environment is desirable.
• Relevant first aid, CPR or sports safety certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based PHE lessons aligned with the relevant IB programme and school curriculum.
• Promote physical literacy, healthy lifestyles, teamwork, resilience and lifelong participation in physical activity.
• Differentiate instruction to support students of varying abilities, backgrounds and learning needs.
• Lead the development, implementation and review of a coherent and progressive PHE curriculum across Primary, Middle and High School.
• Collaborate with PYP, MYP and DP Coordinators, Section Heads and curriculum leaders to ensure effective curriculum delivery and alignment with school priorities.
• Monitor programme effectiveness and student progress, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Promote interdisciplinary learning, global citizenship and the integration of health and wellbeing across the curriculum.
• Provide instructional leadership, professional guidance and mentoring to PHE teachers across the school.
• Coordinate whole-school PHE curriculum planning and ensure effective selection, management and use of teaching resources, facilities and equipment.
