Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Doha, Qatar, seeks a VSAT L2 Engineer / Satellite Communication Specialist for full-time. The role covers advanced troubleshooting, incident resolution, and RF/satellite analysis to ensure link stability and service quality.

You will collaborate with field engineers, NOC teams and OEMs to drive root-cause analysis, CAPAs, and performance optimization across hub and remote sites.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of VSAT systems (Hub, Remote, Satellite link).
• RF concepts include SNR, BER, Eb/N0 and power levels.
• Understanding of IP networking and routing basics; hands-on VSAT platform experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting & fault isolation for VSAT links.
• Own incident resolution for P1/P2 cases and drive service restoration within MTTR.
• Analyze link budget, carrier performance and uplink/downlink issues.
• Conduct RCA for chronic link failures and propose CAPA.
• Support VSAT installations, migrations and hub upgrades.
• Coordinate with OEMs, field teams and TAC vendors.
• Monitor link stability, throughput and uptime; address congestion.
• Provide technical guidance to L1 and improve SOPs.
• Prepare RCA and performance reports; participate in problem reviews.

Job Description:

• 1. Advanced Troubleshooting & Fault Isolation Perform deep analysis of: VSAT link failures and instability Low SNR / high BER issues Hub-to-remote communication failures Network congestion impacting satellite links Identify root causes: Alignment issues RF interference Hardware faults (modem, antenna, RF chain) Weather-related impairments
• 2. Incident Resolution & Service Restoration Own and resolve P1/P2 incidents escalated from L1Drive service restoration within MTTR targets Coordinate with: Field engineers for antenna alignment Hub/NOC teams for configuration changes Vendors/OEMs
• 3. RF & Satellite Analysis Analyze: Link budget parameters Carrier performance Uplink/downlink issues Troubleshoot: Rain fade / atmospheric interference Power level imbalance Frequency/interference issues
• 4. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Perform RCA for: Chronic link failures Repeated VSAT downtime Provide: Corrective actions Preventive measures (CAPA)
• 5. Change & Maintenance Support Support: VSAT installations and migrations Hub upgrades and configurations Frequency/power adjustments Perform: Pre-checks and post-validation Risk and impact analysis
• 6. Vendor & Field Coordination Coordinate with: OEMs (Hughes, Gilat, i Direct, etc.) Field service teams Satellite service providers Manage TAC/vendor escalations
• 7. Performance Optimization Monitor and improve: Link stability Throughput Uptime Identify and fix: Congestion issues RF inefficiencies
• 8. L1 Support & Governance Provide technical guidance to L1 team Validate escalations and improve troubleshooting quality Enhance SOPs and knowledge base
