Job summary

QatarEnergy seeks a Systems Engineer to lead the strategic planning, design, and enhancement of identity and messaging services across on‑prem and Office 365/Azure environments.

The role requires deep expertise in Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange, Citrix, and security practices, with a focus on scalable, high‑availability infrastructure and 2nd/3rd line support for ICT teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in a related field with 5+ years in IAM and messaging
• Strong data center architecture, capacity planning and systems management integration
• Expertise in Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD)
• Experience with Office 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive) and Defender
• Azure AD Identity protection, password protection, CA, PIM, Azure MFA, Intune MDM, SSO, SAML, ADFS
• Experience with Exchange messaging (on-prem and online) and security controls (SPF/DKIM/DMARC)
• Experience with SMS/eFax messaging integration and troubleshooting
• In-depth knowledge of Citrix services and performance optimization
• Troubleshooting AD/Azure AD, GPOs, PowerShell, Windows Server
• Knowledge of security frameworks (ISO27001/2, COBIT, ITIL) and regulatory standards

Responsibilities

• Define and implement robust IAM and messaging infrastructure
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for engineers and technicians
• Collaborate with ICT management to align solutions with business goals
• Ensure highly available, secure and cost-efficient infrastructure
• Deploy and manage cloud and on-premises hybrid environments

Primary Purpose of the Job

Systems Engineer will be responsible for the strategic on-going planning, design, and enhancement of QATARENERGY’s infrastructure services like Identity, Messaging in on-prem and O365 / Azure environment. The focus will be on providing a robust, highly available & responsive, secure, and scalable environment while minimizing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and maximizing Return on Investment (ROI) by deploying state-of-the-art technologies, best practices, policies, processes, and procedures.

As subject matter experts provide technical consultancy to ICT management and staff while providing 2nd & 3rd level support for engineers and technicians during and after office hours.

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in a directly related field, including at least 5 years of technical experience in Identity and Access Management and messaging services
• Strong architectural skills and expertise within the data center infrastructure environment including capacity planning, performance analysis, and systems management integration.
• Strong experience in Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD)
• Strong experience with cloud-native architectures, Office 365 services such as Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Microsoft Defender.
• Strong experience with Azure AD Identity protection, password protection, conditional access, PIM, Azure MFA, Intune MDM, SSO, SAML, ADFS.
• Extensive knowledge in messaging services such as Exchange on-prem and Exchange online with hands-on experience on Transport rules, Anti-phishing, Anti-spam, Anti-malware, Safe Attachment & Links and SPF, DKIM & DMARC
• Extensive experience in messaging services like SMS and eFax applications, with a strong understanding of configuration, integration, and troubleshooting.
• In-depth knowledge of Citrix services, covering deployment, administration, and performance optimization in enterprise environments.
• Troubleshooting skills with Active Directory Infrastructure, Azure AD, Group Policies, PowerShell, Windows Server OS.
• Strong expertise in Active Directory auditing and management tools, with the ability to monitor, analyze, and maintain secure and efficient directory services.
• Ability to understand business requirements and then propose IT solutions to meet business objectives
• Desirable knowledge of industry security practices around file system, server hardening and vulnerabilities
• Familiar with networking technologies and security protocols.
• Working knowledge of cloud networking, security, automation tools
• Familiar with Project Management and Change Management processes
• Basic knowledge of security and control frameworks, such as ISO27001/2, COBIT, and ITIL, as well as regulations such as Sarbanes Oxley and PCI-DSS
