Job summary

Forvis Mazars in Qatar seeks an ESG/Sustainability Associate to join our sustainability advisory practice, supporting clients across Qatar and the GCC in building GHG inventories and preparing sustainability reports aligned with GRI Standards and IFRS S1/S2. This is a hands-on, client-facing role to build deep technical expertise in carbon accounting and sustainability disclosure.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in sustainability/ ESG consulting or carbon accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (engineering, environmental science, sustainability, business).
• Certifications such as IFRS S1/S2, GHG/carbon accounting, or GRI are a plus.
• Familiarity with GRI Standards, GHG Protocol, and IFRS S1/S2 or ISSB/TCFD-aligned frameworks.
• Strong Excel skills; ability to build auditable emissions models.
• Excellent written English; Arabic is a plus for bilingual reporting.

Responsibilities

• Build GHG Protocol-compliant emissions inventories for Scope 1, 2, and 3.
• Draft sustainability and ESG reports aligned with GRI Standards and IFRS S1/S2.
• Support IFRS S1/S2 readiness; perform gap assessments against governance, strategy, risk, metrics & targets.
• Prepare methodology memos and workpapers suitable for third-party verification.
• Liaise with client teams to collect data, resolve gaps, and explain methodology.
• Support materiality assessments and stakeholder engagement for report scoping.
• Stay current on GRI, ISSB, and Qatar-specific disclosure requirements.
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing and development of templates/tools.

About the Role

We're looking for an ESG/Sustainability Associate to join oursustainability advisory practice, supporting clients across Qatar and the GCC in building GHG inventories and preparing sustainability reports aligned with GRI Standards and IFRS S1/S2. This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who wants to build deep technical expertise in carbon accounting and sustainability disclosure.

Key Responsibilities

• BuildGHG Protocol-compliant emissions inventories for clients - Scope 1, Scope 2(location- and market-based), and Scope 3 screening across all 15 categories -using activity data (fuel, electricity, fleet, refrigerants, purchased goods,etc.) and appropriate emission factors.
• Draftsustainability and ESG reports aligned with GRI Standards, including narrativecontent, data tables, and GRI content indices, with an eye toward IFRS S1/S2 and QFMA/QSE disclosure expectations.
• SupportIFRS S1/S2 readiness work - gap assessments against governance, strategy, riskmanagement, and metrics & targets requirements.
• Preparemethodology memos and supporting workpapers that are assurance-ready (built to withstand third-party verification under ISAE/ISSA standards).
• Liaisedirectly with client teams to collect activity data, resolve data gaps, and explain GHG/reporting methodology in plain terms.
• Supportmateriality assessments and stakeholder engagement processes that feed into report scoping.
• Staycurrent on evolving GRI, ISSB (IFRS S1/S2), and Qatar-specific (QFMA/QSE/QCB)sustainability disclosure requirements.
• Contributeto internal knowledge-sharing and templates/tools that improve the team'sdelivery efficiency.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in sustainability/ESG consulting, carbonaccounting, corporate sustainability, or a related advisory field.
• Bachelor'sdegree in a relevant field (engineering, environmental science, sustainability,business, or similar).
• Relevantcertifications a plus: IFRS S1/S2 Certification, GHG/carbon accountingcertification, GRI certification, or similar.
• Workingfamiliarity with GRI Standards, GHG Protocol (Scope 1/2/3 accounting), and IFRSS1/S2 (or equivalent ISSB/TCFD-aligned frameworks).
• StrongExcel skills; comfort building formula-driven, auditable emissions models.
• Abilityto manage multiple client engagements and deadlines with attention to detail.
• Strongwritten English; Arabic a plus for bilingual reporting work.
