Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a qualified Safety Manager to lead and coordinate all aspects of safety programs, risk management, and regulatory compliance in Qatar. You will drive safety excellence, develop systems, and support safe delivery of operations by coordinating cross-functional teams.

The role requires extensive HSE leadership, audits, incident investigations, and training development, with a focus on continuous improvement and compliance with local and international standards.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of experience in safety, health and safety or HSE management roles.
• Minimum 7 years in safety management within major projects, infra, or industrial environments.
• Regional Middle East experience, especially Qatar, is highly preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, OHST, NEBOSH General/Construction are preferred.
• Strong knowledge of safety legislation applicable in Qatar and ability to conduct audits and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and management of comprehensive health and safety programs, policies and procedures.
• Formulate risk assessment concepts and maintain currency with best practices and regulatory changes.
• Coordinate a specialised team to meet high safety standards across operations.
• Conduct site audits, inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Lead incident investigations, analyse root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and present findings to senior management.
• Provide guidance to operational teams on safe working practices and hazard mitigation.
• Oversee contractor safety and ensure compliance with standards and contractor controls.
• Develop and deliver safety training programmes to promote a safety-first culture.
• Be a visible safety advocate across the organisation and ensure licence conditions are met.
