BAE Systems Strategic Aerospace Services WLL is seeking a Sr. Legal Counsel to provide expert governance, compliance and ethics counsel across corporate, commercial, investment and M&A matters in Qatar.

The role involves leading governance initiatives, developing and maintaining compliance programmes, and advising on complex transactions and agreements. The position requires deep knowledge of defense, security, procurement, and R&D contracts, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance, risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Law.
• Masters degree in Law, Defense and Security and/or in Business Administration with a thesis.
• At least 10 years of experience in a commercial/contracts capacity within the defense, finance, or investment fields.
• Expertise in defense, security, procurement, sales, M&A and R&D.
• Knowledge of relevant Intellectual Property laws and corporate governance principles.
• Strong understanding of financial instruments, investment strategies.
• Mastery in transactional activities.

Responsabilités

• Participate in development of the legal department's strategy and monitor its execution.
• Participate in development and management of the department's budget, optimizing expenditure.
• Create robust defence, security, investment, R&D, and other contractual terms compliant with regulations.
• Foster relationships with key stakeholders to support the legal function.
• Develop and standardise contract templates for defence, security, investment, R&D, sales and procurement.
• Provide legal guidance to the Legal Director, Executive Committee and other stakeholders.
• Oversee the organisation's legal affairs and mitigate legal/regulatory risks.
• Review and validate legal documents, licences, and agreements for governance compliance.
• Manage relationships with external counsel for governance and compliance matters.
• Investigate legal claims with external counsel.
• Maintain a comprehensive legal database and records management system.
• Monitor legal cases and provide updates and risk assessments.
• Advise on legislative/regulatory changes impacting operations.
• Uphold confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Support procurement activities ensuring governance compliance.
