Job summary

ABB in Qatar is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer – OT Cyber Security to support cybersecurity services and project implementations at customer sites, onshore and offshore. You will plan, implement, and complete tasks to meet customer expectations and satisfaction.

The role requires 10+ years in total with 5+ years in OT cybersecurity, knowledge of ABB systems (800xA/Symphony Plus), and strong security controls expertise. Onsite work and up to 80% travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electronic / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years total experience with 5+ years in cybersecurity in industrial automation or OT environments, with ABB experience.
• Strong knowledge of 800xA or Symphony Plus with experience in ScadaVantage and related controllers (AC800M, AC800M HI, Infi-90).
• Expertise in Cyber Security solutions/controls (system hardening, network hardening, SIEM, OT Firewalls, etc).
• Ability to design Cyber Secure OT System Architectures and knowledge of ICS/SCADA protocols (Modbus, OPC, DNP3, IEC, Profibus).
• Security frameworks knowledge (IEC 62443, NIST, ISO/IEC 2700x) and cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443 Expert).
• Capable of conducting Cyber Security Design Review Workshops with customers.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% onshore or offshore.

• Execute and support implementation of cybersecurity solutions ensuring timely, cost-effective project delivery.
• Provide training and ongoing support through the solution lifecycle for successful adoption.
• Collaborate with Sales and technical teams to map customer requirements to cybersecurity offerings.

This position reports to:

Engineering Manager

As a Senior Field Service Engineer – OT Cyber Security, you will need to have previous experience either in Industrial process automation industry or OT industries to be considered for the role along with extensive current or previous ABB experience.

In this role you will be involved both in Cyber Security Service activities as well as Cyber Security Project implementation activities. Each day, you will support cyber security requirements at various customer sites, onshore as well as offshore. You will also showcase your expertise by understanding the requirement, planning, implementing, and completion of the task towards customer expectation and towards customer satisfaction.

The work model for the role is: onsite. This role is in Process Automation Energy Industries Division in Qatar Cluster.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Deliver technical support to customers by helping them apply cybersecurity solutions that enhance the security and resilience of their operational technology (OT) environments.
• Execute and support implementation of cybersecurity solutions, contributing to timely and cost-effective project delivery through effective coordination and technical expertise.
• Provide training and ongoing support to customers throughout the solution lifecycle, from onboarding to post-deployment, to ensure successful adoption and long-term satisfaction.
• Collaborate with Sales and technical teams to understand customer requirements and demonstrate how cybersecurity offerings address specific operational challenges

Qualifications For The Role

• Bachelor’s or higher degrees in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electronic / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ Years of total experience, 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity in industrial automation or OT environments along with extensive current previous experience with ABB is a Must-Have for this role.
• You should have a Strong knowledge and experience in either 800xA or Symphony Plus as a Must-Have, experience in ScadaVantage and related controllers like AC800 M, AC800 M HI, Infi-90 are highly preferred.
• You must have Expertise knowledge on Cyber Security solutions / Security Controls such as Ssystem Hardening , Network Hardening , WSUS, Trellix ENS, Solid Core, Network Monitoring & Management Systems, Syslog, Acronis, NGFW Firewalls, OT Firewalls, Network Switches, SIEM etc
• Must be able to design Cyber Secure OT System Architectures
• Strong understanding of I CS/SCADA systems, network protocols (Modbus, OPC, MMS, IEC, DNP3, Profibus etc), and industrial communication standards.
• Knowledge of OT security best practices and cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST, ISO/IEC 2700x)
• Having Cybersecurity Certifications such as CISSP, GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443 Expert
• Must be able to conduct Cyber Security Design Review Workshop with customer.
• Solid knowledge of cybersecurity risk assessments, access control, incident response, and vulnerability management
• Must be able to single handedly own and complete the work assigned
• Strong focus on safe work practices and dedication to following workplace safety guidelines
• Willingness to travel up to 80% onshore or offshore depending on the requirement.
