Job summary

Orion Group seeks a Senior Digital Project Engineer to lead digital product development and transformation initiatives in Doha, Qatar. The role requires coordinating with engineering, operations and IT teams to translate complex requirements into scalable digital solutions.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in digital product development or engineering-enabled improvement, with experience in energy or industrial sectors and familiarity with Azure DevOps, Jira, and Confluence.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in digital product development and digital transformation.
• 6+ years experience in digital product development, digital transformation, or engineering-enabled improvement.
• Experience delivering digital products, ideally in the energy or industrial sector.
• Experience with digital transformation within Oil & Gas is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee work performed by third parties and delivery partners, ensuring progress, quality, and deliverables.
• Engage with business and technical stakeholders to translate operational needs into structured digital opportunities and requirements.
• Lead Agile delivery practices and SDLC for enterprise digital platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and data ecosystems (e.g., Azure, data lakes) and collaboration tools.

Senior Digital Project Engineer

Work Location: Doha, Qatar

Work Schedule: 5 Days in a week

Contract Duration: 1 to 2 Years

Qualification and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
• Business Analysis, Project Management, Agile, or Change Management certification is preferred.
• Minimum 6 years experience in digital product development, digital transformation, or engineering/technology enabled improvement.
• Demonstrated success delivering digital products, ideally in the energy or industrial sector.
• Experience in digital transformation within O&G is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience working with engineering, operational and technical stakeholders to understand complex requirements and shape digital or technology enabled solutions.
• Experience within Oil & Gas, energy, industrial or other asset intensive environments is highly desirable.
• Experience overseeing work performed by third parties, service contractors or multidisciplinary delivery partners, including reviewing progress, quality and deliverables
• Ability to engage effectively with both business and technical stakeholders, translating operational needs into structured digital opportunities and requirements.
• Strong understanding of modern digital delivery practices, including Agile methodologies, SDLC and product based delivery.
• Familiarity with cloud and digital platforms (e.g. Azure) and enterprise technology landscapes.
• Experience with collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence and Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of data platforms and digital ecosystems (e.g. OSDU, Cognite Data Fusion, data lakes and analytics platforms).
• Awareness of AI, Generative AI, automation and data driven solutions, with the ability to identify opportunities and assess applicability to business challenges.
