Job summary

Snoonu is seeking a Senior DBA / Database Engineer in Qatar to own the reliability, performance, and scalability of our data layer across multiple services. You will collaborate with backend engineers, SRE, and architects to design and operate high-throughput, low-latency systems powering our super-app platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as DBA / Database Engineer.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL (indexes, MVCC, vacuum, replication, partitioning).
• MongoDB (replica sets, sharding, performance tuning).
• Key-value stores Redis, DynamoDB or similar.
• Deep understanding of query optimization and execution plans, transactions and consistency models.

Responsibilities

• Design, operate, and optimize PostgreSQL, BigQuery, MongoDB, and key-value databases; ensure high availability, replication, backup/restore, and disaster recovery.
• Monitor and improve performance (p95/p99 latency, query efficiency, indexing).
• Analyze and optimize slow queries, schema design, and data access patterns.
• Manage capacity planning and scaling strategies (vertical + horizontal).
• Implement and maintain data consistency and integrity and retention strategies.
• Support microservices architecture with distributed data patterns.
• Automate operational tasks (backups, failover, maintenance).
• Ensure security, access control, and compliance.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis.

Welcome to Your Next Adventure! We are looking for a Senior DBA / Database Engineer to own the reliability, performance, and scalability of our data layer across multiple services. You will work closely with backend engineers, SRE, and architects to design and operate high-throughput, low-latency systems supporting a super-app platform.

What You’ll Get Your Hands On

• Design, operate, and optimize Postgre SQL, Big Query, Mongo DB, and key-value databases (e.g., Redis, Dynamo DBEnsure high availability, replication, backup/restore, and disaster recovery
• Monitor and improve performance (p95/p99 latency, query efficiency,indexing)
• Analyze and optimize slow queries, schema design, and data access patterns
• Manage capacity planning and scaling strategies (vertical + horizontal)
• Implement and maintain data consistency and integrity and retentionstrategies.
• Support microservices architecture with distributed data patterns
• Control and optimize costs of databases usage
• Collaborate with engineering teams on: schema designmigrationsdata modeling SQL + NoSQL)
• Automate operational tasks (backups, failover, maintenance)
• Ensure security, access control, and compliance
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis

The Magic You Bring

• 5+ years experience as DBA / Database Engineer
• Strong expertise in: Postgre SQL (indexes, MVCC, vacuum, replication, partitioning)
• Mongo DB (replica sets, sharding, performance tuning)
• Key-value stores Redis, Dynamo DB or similar)
• Deep understanding of: query optimization and execution planstransactions and consistency modelsindexing strategies
• Experience with high-load production systems
• Familiar with cloud environments AWS preferred)
• Experience with monitoring tools Datadog, Prometheus, etc.)
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills

Bonus Points If You Have

• Experience with: distributed systems / microservices event-driven architecture Kafka, Rabbit MQ AWS Database Migration Service Senior Database Engineer / DBA (Postgre SQL, Mongo DB, Key-Value Stores)
• 2 Replications slots Knowledge of: data caching strategies CQRS / eventual consistency patterns
• Experience with: automation Terraform, scripting) Kubernetes / ECS Background in e-commerce or high-traffic platforms
