Job summary

Egis Group is seeking a seasoned Quantity Surveyor to join our project delivery team in Qatar. You will support commercial and contractual administration across Design and Build projects, managing payments, cost control, variations and final accounts.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of QS experience, a relevant degree, and strong Excel, reporting and communication skills. Experience in the Middle East and GCC contracts is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years relevant experience in quantity surveying and commercial administration.
• Proven post-contract Design and Build experience is mandatory.
• Strong experience in interim payment assessment, measurement, BOQ administration, variations, claims, and cost reporting.
• Familiarity with GCC or Qatar contracts is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Review Contractor's interim payment applications and verify quantities, progress, milestones, and contractual entitlement.
• Check and verify monthly valuations of work in progress and recommend amounts for certification.
• Review BOQ items, payment schedules, measurements, and supporting commercial documentation.
• Evaluate variations, additional works, omissions, design changes, and Contractor proposals.
• Prepare commercial reports showing payment, variations, cash flow, budget, and forecast final cost status.
• Attend commercial meetings and follow up actions.

About the Role

Position Summary

The Quantity Surveyor shall support the commercial and contractual administration of the Project, including payment assessment, measurement, valuation of variations, cost control, claims support, and commercial reporting.

The candidate shall have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including proven experience in Design and Build projects.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience in quantity surveying and commercial administration.
• Proven post-contract Design and Build experience is mandatory.
• Strong experience in interim payment assessment, measurement, BOQ administration, variations, claims, and cost reporting.
• Practical understanding of the commercial implications of Concept Design, Detailed Design, construction design development, and design changes.
• Experience working with a Consultant, Engineer, PMC, or Employer's Representative is preferred.
• Experience in major infrastructure, civil engineering, environmental, utilities, or similar multidisciplinary projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with PWA, FIDIC or similar Design and Build contractual arrangements is desirable.
• GCC or Qatar experience is an advantage.
• Strong Microsoft Excel, analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess Contractor's interim payment applications and verify quantities, progress, milestones, and contractual entitlement.
• Check and verify monthly valuations of work in progress and recommend amounts for certification.
• Review BOQ items, payment schedules, measurements, and supporting commercial documentation.
• Evaluate variations, additional works, omissions, design changes, and Contractor commercial proposals.
• Review rates, quotations, resource build-ups, labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Support the assessment of Contractor claims, prolongation costs, disruption, acceleration, and other cost-related submissions.
• Prepare independent cost estimates, commercial assessments, cash flow forecasts, and cost-to-complete reports.
• Maintain payment, variation, claim, and commercial registers.
• Assist the Contracts Manager in drafting and reviewing contractual and commercial correspondence
• Prepare commercial reports showing payment, Variations, claims, cash flow, budget, and forecast final cost status.
• Attend commercial meetings, prepare minutes where required, and follow up agreed actions.
• Support preparation and agreement of the Final Account.

What do we need from you

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional membership with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent professional body
• Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and associated cost management tools
• Knowledge of construction industry standards and best practices in the Middle East region
• Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to prepare financial reports for senior management
