Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a QA/QC Materials Inspector to ensure that all materials used in the project are compliant with the project’s specifications and approved by relevant authorities. The role involves reviewing contractor materials, supervising on-site activities, leading inspections, and coordinating with Resident Engineer staff.

The candidate should have a Civil Engineering degree, experience with segmental tunnel lining production and inspection, knowledge of reinforced concrete precast

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering from an accredited Institution to the approval of the Engineer.
• Experience with supervision of civil construction with the segmental tunnel lining production and inspection.
• Familiar with reinforced concrete precast production process, mix design and material testing.
• Good knowledge of local materials standards.

• Know how to prioritize, advocate focus and accountability.
• Use clear and frequent communications, drive execution and results.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Review and approval of the contractor’s proposed materials and methods as instructed by the Resident Engineer.
• General oversight of the contractor’s daily activities including works assignments, on-site performance and guidance on the contractor’s operations.
• Attend and lead inspections on site as required
• Follow up testing and approvals from the relevant authorities
• Review of contractor’s testing requests and following completed reports.
• Review and approve the contractor’s submissions
• Monitor the performance of material delivery and accuracy of materials used on site
• Coordination with contractor’s supervisory personnel regarding schedule, sequence and method of work
• Ensure and monitory compliance with the contractor’s schedule
• Continuous field inspections of the work in progress; consultation with both the Resident Engineer’s and Contractor’s supervision staff
• Preparation of reports to the Resident Engineer on contractual and procedural matters.
