Job description

Primary Purpose of the Job

Monitor, control, and supervise the geological activities to update geological models for Idd El-Shargi field. Undertake geological studies of the reservoirs to optimize field development plans. Analyze and evaluate subsurface data and establish most suitable geological models for utilization in reservoir simulation.

Interpret and review subsurface data; generate optimized drillable well locations and well proposals. Skills to advise geological well operations.

Required Experience and Skills
Experience & Skills

Minimum 20 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, with at least 10 years of experience performing Reservoir Modelling Studies.

Must have strong experience in carbonate reservoirs and worked on mature fields where the integration of production data has been used to constrain their maps, interpretation, and uncertainty management.

Strong Hands-on experience in building reservoir static model and sound knowledge of geostatistic.

Good knowledge/ experience in well log analysis, seismic interpretation, and reservoir simulation.

Good knowledge of horizontal well technology and geo-steering.

Must have strong teamwork skills. Experience working in a multi-cultural and integrated asset team environment.

Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and management.

Advanced degree will be a plus.

Desirable

Plan the acquisition and interpret geological data for/from appraisal, development, and infill wells. Provide input into the integrated reservoir/ field development studies.

Supervise and construct/update 3D reservoir static models as input for dynamic simulation and field development planning (FDP). Develop geological conceptual framework to support the structural and property modelling work.

Perform regular update of hydrocarbon In-place volumes and uncertainty range, feeding into annual Resources/Reserves Booking and ARR document update.

Develop and integrate geological input into the short-term (re-drill/replacement well projects), medium-term (reservoir voidage management) and the long-term (field development and value optimization) activities.

Participate and contribute geological input in the integrated/multidisciplinary studies.

Accountable party for development and implementation of geological/reservoir characterization studies, follow-up the core/thin-section sedimentological evaluation, diagenesis studies (CO isotopes, fluid inclusion, cathodoluminescence etc.). Working with contractor companies to develop and execute a sound program.

QA/QC Geological data and maintain Geological databases.

Provide on-the-job coaching and development of less experienced Qatari staff.
