Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to lead planning for large construction projects in Qatar. You will develop initiation programmes, detailed plans, and robust progress control systems across all development phases. Expect 15+ years in project planning, with 8+ years on high-quality phased projects using Primavera P6.

Chartered Engineer or PE preferred; UPDA/PSP/MBA advantages are a plus. You will present plans to stakeholders and coordinate supplier progress and recovery

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in planning of construction projects, with 8 years in planning and programming high quality projects using Primavera P6.
• Chartered Engineer or PE preferred if track record demonstrates successful planning of high quality phased projects.
• Experience analyzing, constructing schedules and cost using Primavera software.

Responsibilities

• Develop initiation programmes for all development stages.
• Develop an overall development project progress control system for all phases.
• Develop initiation programmes and detailed plans for all development phases.
• Develop an overall development project progress control system for all phases.
• Effectively present project plans to stakeholders.
• Ensure supplier programmes are compliant with the detailed plan and progress monitoring systems.
• Monitor suppliers rate of progress to ensure alignment with the project plan.
• Draw up action plans for recovery of slippage and implement with suppliers.
• Assist with analysis of supplier claims to ensure appropriate responses.
• Close-out planning functions for each project and data administration for the project.
• Review and understand all relevant project documents and conditions.
• Establish and define project control procedures and resources required to operate them.
• Develop Work Breakdown Structure for the project with Project Manager and Client.
• Establish and communicate cost and schedule baselines and ensure control mechanisms.
• Review overall project status with the Project Control Team and recommend corrective action.
• Ensure all cost, planning and document control reports follow the Project Control Manual.
• Other planning management duties as assigned by Project Director / Senior Project Manager.

Ensure supplier programmes are compliant and in line with the detailed plan and progress monitoring systems

Monitor suppliers Rate of Progress to ensure that this is consistent with the project plan

Draw up action plans for the recovery of slippage and implement these with suppliers

Assist with the analysis of supplier claims to ensure that these are appropriately responded to

Close-out planning functions for each project and ensure of data is correctly administered for the project

Review and understand all relevant project documents and conditions

Establish and define project control procedures and identify the level of resources required to operate them

Develop in conjunction with the Project Manager and Client, a suitable work breakdown structure for the project

Establish and communicate cost and schedule baselines and ensure control mechanisms are in place to monitor performance

Review overall project status with the Project Control Team and recommend corrective action where necessary

Ensure that all cost, planning and document control reports are prepared in accordance with the Project Control Manual

Other planning management duties as assigned by the Project Director / Senior Project Manager

A minimum of (15) years` experience in planning of construction projects, of which Seven (8) years` experience is in planning and programming High Quality projects using industry standard programming software such as Primavera P6.

Preferably a Chartered Engineer or PE, although this is not essential if a track record of planning successful High Quality phased projects which have been open to the public during the works can be clearly demonstrated, including analyzing, constructing Schedules and Cost using Primavera Enterprises and Primavera Contract Management software

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

UPDA Certified preferable.
