The Linguistics and Arabic Lexicography Program seeks to form an elite group of researchers qualified to practice scientific research in accordance with its principles and global standards in the fields of linguistics lexicography terminology and associated applications of these sciences It also seeks to enhance the intellectual independence of the researchers and their critical thinking and to enable them to possess the tools of systematic research and global scientific standards to be able to employ their scientific knowledge and research experience in order to meet the needs of the region and to contribute to addressing the issues of the Arabic language by scientific processing based on the achievements of theoretical and applied linguistics in the field of lexicology The program offers a unique composition in the Arab homeland as it allows the student to delve into the issues of linguistics on the one hand and to integrate the science of the lexicology and lexicography using the concepts presented by modern linguistics and what lexicography has developed to examine the various aspects related to the lexicon its sources the construction of its corpus its processing mechanisms and its relationship to its community Linking theoretical formation with practical applications it seeks to invest the knowledge achieved theoretically and practically in solving some of the problems of the Arabic language and its contemporary lexicons so that it can fix some of the shortcomings observed in the field of the Arabic lexicography and can contribute to the production of modern Arabic dictionaries and a historical dictionary of Arabic
The Linguistics and Arabic Lexicography Program seeks to hire a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor Associate Professor or Professor with expertise in linguistics and the ability to teach both general linguistics and modern Arabic linguistics
The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in the program supervise MA and PhD students and undertake other academic and administrative responsibilities as assigned
The appointment will commence in August September 2027
