Job summary

The American School of Doha invites applications for a Middle School Curriculum Coordinator and Instructional Coach. The role advances curriculum alignment and research-based practices, while building teacher capacity across the Middle School.

You will work with Principals, HODs, and teachers to ensure rigorous, accessible learning and robust instructional improvement. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, relational, organized, and committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, teaching and learning, or a related field.
• At least five years of successful teaching experience, including Middle School experience.
• Experience leading the advancement of curriculum and instruction across multiple grades or content areas.
• Experience coaching teachers and leading professional learning.
• Strong knowledge of research-based curriculum, instruction, assessment, MTSS, and effective ELL practices.
• Experience working collaboratively with HODs or other instructional leaders.
• Strong communication, organization, relationship-building, and follow-through skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the review, development, alignment, and documentation of curriculum across Middle School departments.
• Ensure alignment among standards, learning outcomes, instruction, assessment, and reporting.
• Support HODs and teachers in designing rigorous units and common assessments.
• Promote research-based practices, including UDL, formative assessment, differentiation, student voice, and culturally responsive teaching.
• Ensure curriculum and instruction reflect the developmental needs of young adolescents.
• Build trusting, collaborative relationships with HODs and teachers.
• Support teachers through co-planning, modeling, observation, feedback, and reflection.
• Design and facilitate professional learning aligned with school and divisional goals.
• Build the capacity of HODs and teacher leaders to lead collaborative, evidence-informed instructional improvement aligned with divisional goals.
• Support new teachers in understanding the Middle School curriculum and instructional expectations.
• Develop trusting partnerships with teachers through non-evaluative instructional coaching, collaborative inquiry, feedback, and reflection.
• Collaborate with the Middle School Principals to coordinate the collection, analysis, and use of internal and external student learning data to inform instructional decisions and divisional priorities.
• Support PLCs in using evidence to strengthen Tier 1 instruction, respond to diverse learner needs through targeted support and enrichment, and monitor student learning and progress.
• Support HODs and teachers in analyzing classroom assessments, common assessments, MAP, DIBELS, and other relevant data.
• Coordinate the annual review, inventory, and ordering of curriculum resources with HODs.
• Ensure textbooks, digital programs, assessments, subscriptions, and instructional materials remain current, aligned, and accessible.
• Assist the Middle School Principals with resource planning, budgeting, ordering, and renewals.
• Collaborate with purchasing, finance, and technology to ensure resources are available when needed.

Position Summary:

The Middle School Curriculum Coordinator and Instructional Coach is a collaborative instructional leader passionate about advancing teaching and learning. Working closely with the Middle School Principals, HODs, and teachers, this person will strengthen curriculum alignment, support research-based instructional practices, build teacher capacity, and help ensure that all students experience rigorous, engaging, and accessible learning. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, relational, organized, and excited to turn educational research and school priorities into strong, consistent classroom practice. The Middle School Curriculum Coordinator and Instructional Coach will prioritize, promote, and safeguard the welfare of all ASD students and demonstrate a commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Curriculum and Instruction

• Schoolwide coherence: The Middle School curriculum is part of a connected K-12 learning experience.
• Vertical articulation: Learning builds intentionally from one grade to the next.
• Cross-divisional collaboration: The coordinator works with the Office of Teaching and Learning rather than operating independently.
• Coordinate the review, development, alignment, and documentation of curriculum across Middle School departments.

• Knowledge of standards-based curriculum design, alignment, and assessment, including familiarity with AERO, NGSS, Common Core, or other relevant international and US curriculum frameworks.
• Experience managing academic data systems and curriculum resources.
