Job summary

Work standard in Al-Rayyan is seeking a Librarian to organize and manage our collection of books, journals, and resources. You will assist patrons with research and information, plan library programs, and create displays to promote new materials.

The ideal candidate has a library background or related degree, strong organizational skills, meticulous record-keeping, and customer service excellence to serve diverse patrons.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working in a library setting is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to categorize materials accurately.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of records and information.
• Knowledge of library systems and classification methods.
• Familiarity with reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to assist patrons of all ages/backgrounds.
• Passion for reading, learning, and promoting literature.

Responsibilities

• Organize and classify books, journals, and other resources according to the library's system
• Maintain accurate records of all library materials
• Assist patrons in finding information and conducting research
• Plan and conduct library programs and events
• Create displays to promote new materials or themes
• Manage circulation activities such as checking in/out materials, issuing library cards, collecting fines/fees
• Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and helping patrons locate materials
• Develop and maintain relationships with community members to promote library services
• Stay updated on new trends in library science and implement changes as necessary
