Job summary

SeaLink in Al-Rayyan is seeking a highly organized Librarian to manage the library's collections and assist patrons with research and reference inquiries.

You will catalog materials, create displays, run literacy programs, and train volunteers, supporting a welcoming community hub. A Bachelor's in Library Science and strong English are required; Arabic knowledge is a plus.

Librarian - Al-Rayyan

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Librarian to join our library in Al-Rayyan. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the library's collection of books, periodicals, and other materials, as well as assisting patrons with research and reference inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain the library's collection of books, periodicals, and other materials
• Catalog new materials and update existing records using library software
• Assist patrons with research and reference inquiries
• Develop and implement programs to promote literacy and reading within the community
• Create displays and exhibits to showcase library resources
• Keep track of library inventory and order new materials as needed
• Train volunteers or interns who assist in the library

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of library cataloging systems and software
• Strong customer service skills with ability to assist patrons of all ages and backgrounds
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
• Fluent in English (knowledge of Arabic is a plus)
• Prior experience working in a library is preferred but not required
