Job summary

Qatar Foundation is seeking a commercial lawyer to draft, review and negotiate complex contracts with contractors, suppliers and lenders. The role provides proactive legal support across Finance, Procurement, IT, PR/Marketing and HR, and requires keeping ahead of legal impediments while aligning with Qatar laws and English contracts.

Ideal candidates will show exceptional negotiation, Arabic/English written and spoken communication, and a strong grasp of not-for-profit governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law.
• Commercial knowledge related to not-for-profit organizations or large public-sector entities.
• Outstanding negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of current legal information in not-for-profit and QF-specific regulatory context.
• Excellent Arabic and English written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate contractual arrangements with contractors, customers, consultants, suppliers, lenders and others to protect the Foundation legally.
• Provide proactive legal input to Finance, Procurement, IT, PR & Marketing and HR issues.
• Anticipate legal impediments and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Monitor incidents with potential legal implications and take appropriate action.
• Collaborate with lenders and legal representatives to ensure loan agreements compliance.

Key Result Areas

• Draft review and negotiate contractual arrangements including those with contractors customers consultants suppliers lessors shippers buyers lenders etc to ensure that the Foundation is protected legally
• Take a proactive legal role with respect to Finance Procurement IT PR amp Marketing and HR issues
• Anticipate legal impediments
• Keep informed of any incidents that may have legal implications and take action as appropriate
• Work closely with lenders legal representatives to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of loan agreements
• Work closely with insurers on loss prevention
• Develop contingency plans for worst-case scenarios losses environmental damage etc
• Establish and maintain standards and policies within the Foundation to ensure compliance with a complex legal system
• Reconcile Qatari Arabic laws with English contracts and agreements
• Ensure that all concerned parties are aware of the legal implications of their actions
• Provide advice concerning legal implications present in current and long-range mission plans and programs
• Continually review and evaluate the total program for attainment of objectives
• Advise on Laws regulations and opinions of the courts and administrative agencies as well as Administrative Law Contract Environmental Litigation Fiscal Civilian Personnel Standards of Conduct Conflicts of Interest and government ethics matters
• Other reasonable tasks as assiqned by supervisor and OF leqal manaqement

Minimum Knowledge Skills amp Experience

• Bachelor s degree in Law0-5 years of relevant full-time work experience as a commercial lawyer or a relevant field
• Commercial knowledge related to non-profit organizations preferably gained through working with large public-sector organizations
• Outstanding negotiation skills
• Must maintain knowledge of current legal information in area of expertise as well as in the areas of special laws applicable to not-for-profit foundations and legal issues unique to QF s activities
• Excellent oral communication skills and excellent writing skills with the ability to draft edit a variety of written reports and communications and articulate ideas clearly and concisely in both Arabic and English
