Job summary

UCC Holding seeks a highly experienced Lead Power Systems Engineer to steer power systems engineering, design coordination, and technical delivery for major EPC Power & Digital Infrastructure Projects in Qatar. The role covers concept through commissioning, including studies, procurement support, and interface management.

The ideal candidate brings 12–15+ years of HV/MV/LV expertise, strong EPC/EPIC background, and proficiency with ETAP/PowerFactory/SKM, plus SCADA/EMS exposure.

Qualifications

• 12–15+ years of electrical/power systems experience
• Experience in EPC/EPIC/turnkey projects
• Hands-on with HV/MV/LV power systems
• Experience with substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS
• Proficient in power-system analysis (load flow, short circuit, protection, harmonics)
• Experience with ETAP/DIgSILENT PowerFactory/SKM or equivalent
• Coordination with clients, consultants, OEMs, vendors and multidisciplinary teams
• Experience with SCADA/EPMS/EMS/IEC 61850 is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead power systems engineering and design from concept through handover
• Develop and review Single Line Diagrams, load lists, distribution philosophies
• Lead electrical system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination)
• Coordinate engineering for substations, GIS/AIS, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS
• Develop protection and control philosophies, relay coordination, calculations
• Review specifications, data sheets, BOQs, vendor documents, bid evaluations
• Coordinate with SCADA/EPMS/EMS/automation/instrumentation teams
• Support FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, testing and energization
• Provide technical support to procurement, construction, commissioning, and PM teams
• Identify and resolve design/construction/commissioning issues
• Ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE/NFPA/NEC and client requirements
• Lead and mentor electrical engineers and designers

Position: Lead Power Systems Engineer - Power & Digital

Location: Qatar

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Power Systems Engineer to lead power systems engineering, design coordination, technical studies, procurement support, construction interfaces, testing, commissioning, and technical delivery for major EPC Power & Digital Infrastructure Projects.

Experience Requirement:

• Minimum 12-15+ years of experience in electrical / power systems engineering.
• Strong experience in EPC, EPIC, turnkey, or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong hands-on experience with HV, MV, and LV power systems.
• Experience with substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS, protection and power distribution systems.
• Strong experience in electrical studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, motor starting, voltage drop, harmonics, and arc flash.
• Experience with ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, SKM, or equivalent.
• Experience coordinating with clients, consultants, OEMs, vendors, construction, commissioning, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience with SCADA, EPMS, EMS, IEC 61850, or digital substation systems will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead power systems engineering and design from concept and FEED through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Develop and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), load lists, load schedules, design criteria, and power distribution philosophies.
• Lead and review electrical system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, motor starting, harmonics, voltage drop, and arc flash.
• Review and coordinate engineering for HV/MV/LV substations, transformers, GIS/AIS, switchgear, generators, UPS, batteries, and distribution systems.
• Develop and review protection and control philosophies, relay coordination, and technical calculations.
• Review technical specifications, equipment data sheets, material requisitions, BOQs, vendor documents, and technical bid evaluations.
• Coordinate with SCADA, EPMS, EMS, automation, instrumentation, telecom, civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines.
• Support FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, testing, energization, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Provide technical support to procurement, construction, commissioning, and project management teams.
• Identify and resolve design, construction, interface, and commissioning issues.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, quality, HSE, and applicable client requirements.
• Lead and mentor electrical engineers, designers, and technical teams.

Qualifications Requirement:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of HV/MV/LV power systems, substations, protection, switchgear, transformers, generators, and electrical distribution.
• Strong knowledge of ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, SKM, or equivalent power-system analysis software.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and relevant international electrical standards.
• Strong technical leadership, engineering coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
