Job summary

Airswift is seeking an Instrument/F&G Engineering Specialist with extensive oil and gas experience to advise during EPC and startup phases, ensuring safety, operability and reliability across the facility life cycle.

The role requires strong knowledge of DCS, PLCs, ESD/F&G systems and SIL requirements, with leadership skills to guide projects and contractors in a high-stakes environment.

Qualifications

  • 8 years' experience in oil and gas environment.
  • Good working knowledge of DCS, PLCs, ESD/FG, anti-surge and metering systems.
  • Full knowledge of SIL requirements.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Instrument/F&G engineering support including design reviews (e.g., SIL workshops, assessment and verification, HAZOP), commissioning, startup, failure analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Develop surveillance and administration programs for critical Instrument and F&G systems to achieve reliability, availability and cyber security.
  • Define and document best practices; develop plans and schedules to meet KPIs; provide technical input to other disciplines as required.
  • Supervise contractors, consultants and service providers; guide less experienced engineers.
  • Support project tie-ins, maintain an Issue Register and assist with high-risk commissioning activities.

Instrument/F&G Engineering Specialist

Advise and support Instrumentation/Fire & Gas (F&G) Engineering activities during EPC and Startup phase until handover to permanent Asset whilst ensuring project deliverables meet Operations expectations in terms of Safety, Operability, Reliability and Maintainability over the facility design life cycle.

  • Reports to Head of Engineering
Internal
  • Regular contact with Project Management Team (PMT) and Operations departments.
  • Periodic contact with Engineering & Projects and HSEQ Group.
External
  • Frequent contact with Shareholders Subject Matter Experts, EPC contractors, vendors, suppliers, and engineering consultants.
Job Context & Major Challenges
  • Able to effectively influence project decisions based not only on CAPEX but considering OPEX for the project life cycle.
  • Ensures compliance with QG specifications, processes and procedures for the assigned projects.
  • Participate in reviews and provide technical inputs to designs and procedures for the implementation of approved field operations whilst mitigating new technology risks introduced by the project.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide a variety of Instrument/F&G engineering supports to contribute to the division strategy and goals, which includes design reviews (e.g., SIL workshops, assessment and verification, HAZOP, etc.), commissioning, startup, failure analysis and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Develop and implement surveillance and administration programs for critical Instrument and F&G Systems of new projects to achieve high standards of Reliability, Availability and Cyber Security.
  • Define and document best practices within the area of expertise and recommend performance improvement initiatives.
  • Develop plans and work schedules to ensure effective completion of tasks and activities, meeting the section and division KPIs.
  • Provide technical input related to area of expertise to other disciplines and functions as required to support overall business objectives.
  • Control and supervise the activities undertaken by contractors, consultants and service providers.
  • Guide less experienced engineers in implementing the company integrity and reliability systems.
  • Support and facilitate smooth completion of project tie-in requirements for all systems under the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain an Issue Register identifying and resolving critical issues, including new technology risks (under area of responsibility), which could impact new project Reliability, Availability and Cyber Security.
  • Support high-risk commissioning activities for high-complexity and large-scale projects by:
    • Undertaking stringent system surveillance.
    • Tuning and optimizing Instrument and F&G systems.
    • Providing advisory support to Operations and Maintenance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
Knowledge And/or Experience
  • 8 years' experience in an oil and gas environment.
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge of:
    • DCS
    • PLCs
    • ESD/F&G Systems
    • Anti-Surge Control Systems
    • Metering Systems
    • Turbine/Compressor Control Systems
  • Full knowledge of SIL requirements.
Technical And Business Skills
  • Able to work and make decisions under highly stressful conditions.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Strong leadership and people skills.
